Story

Purchased by myself in March 2017, this poor old Capri certainly shows the hard life it has led.

The inner wings have had some terribly shoddy welding, as have the headlight surrounds and front slam panel. There is a dent in the roof and the sunroof is not fitting properly and will not slide back.

The rear offside wing has taken a large hit (according to the forums by one of the previous owners neighbours) and both rear arches have been badly DIY repaired. The boot lid is off square and a reproduction rear light cluster gives the appearance of a bad rear end repair. However the rear does look to be factory.

The paint work has definitely been attacked by someone drunk with a spray can, not sure if it was malicious or actually planned, but needs an angle grinder to put right.

Since I bought it I have removed the kenlowe fan and replaced the water pump/ radiator/ hoses/ thermostat and housing, belts, cam tensioner, top mounts and coil springs, temperature sender, oil pressure sensor, added the cam cover back in, carb refurb kit, poly bushed it, rear wheel bearings (which one of you lost it on a corner and thumped the offside rear?). I have removed the wiring for two moss alarms left over in the dash and generally given the interior some new screws and parts. The head gasket is currently drinking the cooling fluid, so that is next to be done.

Changing gear involved either hitting the dash or back seat, so a quick shift gear level kit has been fitted but with no vice, reverse and first are still a bit of a lottery. Still makes for fun at traffic lights.

The original rear speakers were present but only the metal frame, the paper had all but dissolved, so a set of JBL replacements all round are now fitted keeping the original wiring and front door grilles so it looks standard. Not decided what to do about the stereo yet, got my old Apline sat in the glove box at the moment.
The silver dash was with the car when I got it but this went in the bin in favour of an uncut one (it was heavily damaged and not salvageable). The dash lights have been changed to green Canubus LEDs for a more original feel.
The bodywork is in a terrible state, so in October it goes in for new rear arches and repair to the offside rear wing, new bonnet, front wings, slam and front panels. I am aiming to have the respray done as two tone gun metal grey over the original stratos silver to match my old Calypso I loved so much (TSG914Y).
